Catholic Home Schooling Curriculum Is More Biased Toward Religion

Catholic’s firmly believe that the Lord Jesus Christ must be the most determining factor in every area of everybody’s life, including education. This simple but blind faith in Jesus Christ has affected every aspect of their academic study, including curriculum.

This will continue in the Catholic home schooling curriculum from the beginning till the end of school life. They vow to build spiritual, moral, ethical and academic foundation in students with a strong inclination towards Bible. They believe that children are precious gifts of God and parents that too under God have got the ultimate authority on the education of their child.

Catholic home schooling curriculum believes that every child has capabilities which are different from any other child. According to his or her capabilities, he or she must choose their course of study. A brief inside look into the Catholic home schooling curriculum reveals the presence of God in every chapter of every level.

The subjects of Life Science, Physical Science and Earth Science have been described as “Discovering God’s Creation Science”. In these subjects, many things are discovered in the nature and thus all these have been described as the God’s Creation.

Impact of Bible and Christianity on the Curriculum

There are also two subjects on Bible and Christian living. In the Bible subject, there are two aspects. The first part deals with everything about God and the second part describes Bible book by book; every aspect of the Bible is covered here in full detail. The Christian living section in the Catholic home schooling curriculum deals with Christian character and the power of prayer.

It will teach the character of a true Christian and the good effects of praying every Friday of your life. So, in a Catholic home schooling curriculum, a child will learn, in addition to Math, Physics, Life Science and Chemistry, the importance of Christ in every sphere of life. Even in the music classes, he will have to learn the history of Christian music.

Role of Parents in the Curriculum

Catholic home schooling curriculum also believes that the parents must take a very active role in the education of their child. According to their logic, the Lord says it is the parents who are solely responsible for the child and it is the parents who have taught the child to speak. The Catholic home schooling curriculum is parent led, so that they can have a direct control on the education of their children. The parents themselves also grade some assignments, so that they have a direct responsibility for the progress of their child.
